This week is our last Sunday in our Practicing Justice series. We’ve had the chance to learn from some fantastic teachers about what justice looks like in a wide variety of circumstances and this week, we’re looking at justice and prayer. We’re excited to hear from Laura Bennett who is the Coordinator of Justice and Advocacy for the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada. Her role focuses on providing leadership in the area of biblically-based and culturally sensitive engagement on justice and advocacy issues. She is a wonderful fit to close out this teaching series, and we look forward to what we will learn together.

This month, we were looking forward to the Search Committee announcing a special meeting to present a candidate for the church’s consideration for Senior Pastor. The committee has been actively working, and had selected an individual who had allowed their name to stand.
Last week, the candidate reached out to share that while they love Lewisville, felt very connected, and were very excited about the prospect, he and his family had a strong sense that they were not “released” from their current call/church just yet. While we were obviously disappointed as we were excited about this candidate, we only want God’s best for all involved and remain convinced that He is in control and has a plan.
The Search Committee will be meeting in the coming weeks to discuss, and to re-evaluate next steps. The unfortunate reality is that this will affect the timeline and we will need to restart the process. We will continue to share important information as the process unfolds. As has been the case all along, we covet your prayers as we navigate this situation. God is good. All the time.

The last two years have been hard. There’s no way around it. But the last two years have given us the chance to stretch our creative muscles, and to try new things. We embraced Church Online, adapted our current programming, took on new ideas, and took some risks.
This summer, we’re going to be jumping into another ‘new’ thing, and we hope you’ll be excited to take part in Summer Church. For the months of July and August, our regular calendar will look a bit different. Church Online will continue on Sunday mornings at 10am, and you can continue to participate and chat together online. Our in-person gatherings will shift to Wednesday evenings at 630pm, and will include a community BBQ each week at 530pm. Those evenings will have worship and teaching, and Kidsville Plus will be running each week as well.
So why are we doing this? Well, one of the ‘wins’ we saw in 2020 and 2021 were the opportunities we had to connect with our community. Whether that was movie nights, barbecues, kids’ game nights, or free ice cream – when we have opened our doors to the community, they’ve shown up. And we want to continue to do that! So, we’re going to embrace something new and try this for the summer of 2022.
Staff and leadership are excited about the potential this summer, and we hope that you are too. We’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks, but for now, prep for a great July and August.

Students - Have you thought about your influence? Because we have. This summer, Lewisville Youth is excited to launch a Student Summer Intern Program (grades 6-12)! Through this process, participants will grow as leaders, individuals, and followers of Christ. This program will provide training and experience and leadership and spiritual development.
Applications are due by June 12, so reach out to Josh, or fill out the application to let us know you are interested.

We are sad to share the passing of Gloria Stevens, a long-time member at Lewisville. Gloria was a good friend, and we will miss her quick wit and her laugh. Please be in prayer for her son Jonathan, and her entire family.
A service for Gloria will be held on Thursday at 1pm. Further details and online condolences can be found through Tuttle Funeral Home.
